The Ryk Mead Band has had the honour to perform at a variety of venues all over the world, specialising in rock/blues music. Something else we have a reputation for is our habit of going our own way. Many other musicians and critics may view this as us being self-indulgent. However, we do it to exercise our creativity and entertain the crowd. It also makes us stand out from other acts.
Creating
You could be playing jazz, rock, alternative, or even folk music. However, a great thing to do here would be combining these and a few other styles with the blues elements. This can create something really special for the performer and the audience.
Furthermore, there is something about the blues scale that other scales simply lack. It’s the heart aching, crying, raw, but also honest, soulful, earthly sound that truly comes to life whilst playing it.
Blues helped with earlier music
In reality, a fair amount of music and early material was procured from blues. When musicians learn new songs, they will likely encounter blues techniques and basics every so often. They are still the beating heart of so many different tracks. You will find them with various other songs and styles of music too.
Robert Johnson was one of the earliest blues guitar players. He became the influence for famous figures like Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, and Jimi Hendrix. As a result the rock/blues link is well established.
Early country musicians like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams drew inspiration from the blues as well. A large amount of their music has elements of it. The influence also stuck around and still remains in contemporary country music. In turn, country interweaves itself with blues too.
The perfect act
If you want an act for an event, Ryk Mead and the band would be more than happy to help. We are widely celebrated international musicians.
